The Course Summary

The course aims at introducing the historical and economic background of the European integration process and assessing its present results. The first part covers institutional aspects of the European Union, its legal order, judiciary system and the relationship to domestic law.  The second part covers the basics of the European internal market:  the free circulation of goods, persons and capital, the common European trade policy, with special attention to the competition law of the EU and its enforcement mechanisms against anticompetitive practices (collusion between undertakings, abuse of dominant positions, merger control).
